Saint Lucia Taiwan Partnership Trade Show snippet #7
Much of my work in the last 25 years has involved the crafters of Choiseul. Choiseul is the home of Traditional Crafts in Saint Lucia – pottery, several kinds of basketry, furniture and woodwork. It was a pleasure to meet Marie Dalson of Klokie’s Crafts who has apparently been wanting to meet me for a while 🙂
Her craftsmanship is top rate and she’s innovated with some interesting reinterpretations of decoration of the basketry – check out a pic of one of my favourite, made from Pandanus, locally called ‘palama’ in Kweyol or ‘Screwpine’ in English
Hello I would love to source the placemats I saw that were down south in restaurant on the beach with a hotel up high, Near hotel chocolat, ladera, etc. They were in the shape of a fish, huge and woven, so beautiful! Do you think you could help source them?
Many best wishes
Giselle
Hi Giselle, yes I can! Aren’t the gorgeous!Talk about conversation starters! They’re made from vertiver grass in the beautiful quarter of Choiseul. I know them well! I’ll message you privately to discuss details!
