I was delighted to be asked to do a sponsored post for Buzz Restaurant – a favourite place to eat! As always, our aim at Island Effect is to be an excellent, trusty guide for you, so all opinions are our own!
When you arrive at Buzz, at the northern end of Reduit Beach Avenue in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia, you walk into an atmosphere of warm low lights and the hum of soft chatter shared between bites of delicious food and mouth-watering aromas…that is unless you happen by on one of the evenings like Saturday’s Burger Night, then, the place comes alive with the energy of the weekend as regulars and visitors unwind.

Buzz has taken the phrase ‘Mise en Place’ and interpreted it as a restaurant that has all its ‘ingredients’ prepped and ready in place:
Let’s start with the outdoor seating – rambling branches of a huge flambouyant tree reach out over tables scattered across the forecourt, with pin-lights in the tree for mood lighting, it’s downright romantic! Nowhere else can boast an al fresco setting like this!

But, if you prefer something indoors, then you’ll be well looked after in the inner dining area where the walls are lined with local art for sale and the high white ceiling rafters, jalousie windows and overhead fans create the ambiance of a West Indian island ‘Great House’.

Whether you are looking a quiet solo-table, romantic dinner for two or for a place to get together for a big family celebration, you will fit right in at Buzz as the layout and size of the restaurant makes it entirely possible for romance to be blooming in one corner and a lively gathering to be partying in another, and both to be happy.
The Food
BUZZ is comfort food at its best. The Daily Buzz menu is an impressive array of choices and the owners and chef all take their food very seriously – quality ingredients, expertly blended flavours and stylish presentation are the norm here.

Buzz offers a ‘fusion’ cuisine that manages to hit it just right, alive with exciting Caribbean twists on familiar favourites. Appetizers and main course dishes from around the Caribbean sporting fabulous flavours – jerk chicken, pepperpot and crab cakes jostle for your attention alongside South African inspired rich tender cuts of steak or lamb and ribs that fall deliciously off the bone. Or surfside there’s Creole fish and seafood including seasonal lobster dripping in butter, garlic and fresh herbs. Don’t overlook the addictive Cheesy ‘Crack’ bread or the escargot in puff pastry appetizers either. Even the salads pack a Buzz. Go with an appetite – you’re forewarned!

When you’ve conquered all that, even if you think you are full, you’ll want to make room for dessert. I’m a dessert fan and even if I have to take it home in one of their eco-friendly recyclable takeaway containers (yeah, props for that green packaging Buzz!) I’m not going to miss my Buzz ‘Daily Sweet’ Dessert. Silky Chocolate Tart vies with Chilled Mango Cheesecake, Frozen Masala Chai Parfait, Crème Brulee and a few more. Rich deep flavours, just enough sweet to bring out the delicious. What a way to end dinner!

The Bar
Set at the back of the open-air seating, the well-stocked, 3-sided bar at Buzz provides a great spot to relax and unwind. At once managing to be both private and welcoming, it’s a great place to meet friends before dinner, while away an evening challenging the bartender to test his mixology or sit sipping from the well-rounded wine menu. Should you be peckish, appetizers and bar bites will keep you going – all the delicious flavours delivered right to your drinking perch.
Happy hour is 6:30 – 7:30 every day – perfect for just after sunset.
Buzz Bar is good for solo women travellers, as you can sit and tuck yourself away or mingle in a lively friendly atmosphere, as you choose. And there are bag hooks too! Guys you just don’t understand that, I know, but it’s so appreciated by the gyals.

Special Occasions
If you are celebrating, whatever the occasion, Buzz will happily host you and assist with making the evening memorable. Call in advance wherever possible or just let the staff know when you arrive, and they’ll organize something to add to your celebration.

Off the main Castries- Gros Islet highway, if you are driving, turn into Rodney Bay and drive ‘The Strip’ – the road between the two malls. It will eventually turn towards the right and you will see hotels on your left and the Marina and Eastern Caribbean Condos on your right, keep going along that road until you see the second turn off on the right. Buzz is right there on the corner, you really can’t miss it! If you’re staying in one of the hotels on Reduit Beach – Bay Gardens Beach Resort, the Papillion or Royal, or across the road at Blu, Buzz is just a few minutes from your room. It’s an easy 10-15 minutes drive from Sandals Grande, The Landings, Royalton or Cap Maison.
By Bus, ask to stop at the Rodney Bay Malls and follow the road as above. Walking is about 10 minutes from the highway.
